Google’s Cloud service Drive is up and live.

If you have installed the Google Docs app on your smartphone you’ll get drive as an upgrade, replacing the former Docs app. Apps for Apple devices will be coming soon, clients for Mac OS and Windows are online already.

Everyone will get 5 GB free cloud space, if you need more drawers you can rent up to 16 TB for 799,-USD per month.

Drive looks and feels like dropbox, but uploading seemed decently faster to drive than to dropbox. Drive is interconnected with Docs – which makes sense. But you can even share editable documents with no admin or writing permission, which is a good feature, too.

But Dropbox is promoting it’s service since 5 years, Microsoft announced to enhance SkyDrive and Apple has it’s iCloud service up and running too – Cloud War pending?
