Digital Music News posted this very nice but heavily misleading graph:
The album sales data comes from the RIAA, the broadband percentages (per total households) come from Pew Internet. US-based data, left axis in millions of units.
Of course, internet traffic raised, and of course album sales dropped over the years, and this plain and dumb correlation does only prove once again, that this approach will lead nowhere. If you’d substitute ‘album sales’ by ‘getting lost due to malfunctional navigation software’ you’d get the same graph, any arbitrary data based on digitalisation would do.
Come on DMN, you can do better…
