Apps vs. Google

The most interesting announcement from Apple was not the new MacBook Air but to bring apps onto the computers. To integrate them into the next OS.

Good news for content providers and publishers as this might boost app sales. Today 63% iPad owners (Nielsen) already purchased apps from the app-store

Apples share in the computer market is smaller than it’s reputation – some 10%. However, the +4 mio. iPads are not included yet.

What makes competitors like Google criticize Apples plans is that Apple is more and more bypassing the web. Google cannot read in an app environment and therefore sell ads there. So the bigger the iApp world gets, the smaller the market share for Google Ad words…

Mozilla director Mike Beltzner asked on Twitter: ‘After today’s keynote, it is obvious that Apple want to bypass the Web’
