To launch a service with a headstart of 160 million credit cards is certainly an advantage.

But Apple shifts his social network PING from the browser, that we all thought to be the end point of the internet, to iTunes.
Now you can follow your favorite artist, friends, share stuff, comment or even go shopping from inside iTunes.
Apple says their privacy should be super-easy to adjust, but as the update is not available yet we’ll see.
But starting with 160 million paying users will make it quite hard for e.g. last.fm to compete.
And if Apple will present an API for others to plug in can be doubted…
